Nourishment is foundational to healing. At Wellspring, nutrition is approached as a return to what the body inherently recognizes: whole, time-tested foods that support balance, resilience, and lasting vitality.

This approach draws from a blend of ancestral nutrition principles, the concept of eating in alignment with your individual makeup, and sometimes the GAPS (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) framework or other specialized recommendations for deep healing.

The idea behind “eating right for your type,” popularized by Dr. Peter D'Adamo, recognizes that certain foods interact differently with the body based on blood type. In my own experience, I have followed a blood type aligned approach (I’m an O-) for over 20 years and have found meaningful, lasting benefits. While individual needs always vary, this framework can offer helpful insight into how your body uniquely responds to what you consume.

Ancestral nutrition further supports this perspective by emphasizing traditional, nutrient-dense foods that have sustained generations. These foods are reflected in hundreds of biblical references and include clean proteins, natural fats, properly prepared grains, fruits, vegetables, and foods sourced as close to their origin as possible. People from different regions do best when focusing on proteins from that area, whether it’s bison, salmon, or bald eagle. Just kidding! Not the last item.

The GAPS protocol, developed by Natasha Campbell-McBride, adds another layer for those needing a very deep level of restoration. It focuses on gut health as a cornerstone of overall wellness. By supporting digestion, restoring the integrity of the gut lining, and reducing inflammatory inputs, this approach helps create a strong foundation for healing and regulation throughout the body. Please note that this is a short term protocol and not a long term nutrition plan.

Rather than relying on restrictive trends, my nutritional philosophy honors balance. Severely cutting carbohydrates, for example, is not considered a sustainable strategy for most people, particularly when it comes to supporting hormonal health, energy, and metabolic stability. The beauty is in the balance and the goal is not perfection, but alignment. We want to nourish our bodies in a way that supports its natural design and encourages resilience and vitality within.
